How long for Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam

Hi all,

Are you checking these countries out for future employment as an English teacher?

No, I'm just going to be teaching voluntarily in Thailand for 2-3 weeks. It's something that I definately want to do and I've already got the CELTA qualification.

Just want to know how long I could spend in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos without feeling like I've 'rushed' them.

Nick,
VN takes about 3 weeks to go from HCMC-HAN or the reverse. 2 is the minimum, 3 good, 4 better. Cambodia, figure 2 weeks. That is enough to hit Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, beach time at Sihanoukville, Kampot/Kep. Never been to Laos, but probably 3-4 weeks to hit everything.

Spent 4 weeks in Vietnam last August, intended to go to Cambodia as well in this time but there was just so much to see and do in Vietnam we didnt make it there, another trip another time! 4 weeks was about right for Vietnam though and I think with another 4 weeks I could have seen Cambodia and Laos at a nice pace also.

all that can be done in 6 weeks but it dont leave much time if you really fancy a place and want to explore more...... you would prob need at least 3 weeks for vietnam anyway and another 2 for lao, camdodia can be done in a week if you were just sticking to exploring ankor wat and a daty or 2 in phenom phen

Thanks for all your advise!

I think you are all right - following looking at the general length of Vietnam and the fact I don't want to rush I'm thinking that I may have to leave cambodia and southern vietnam out. Halong Bay in Vietnam and Laos are the main points for me. If I have time I could always jump over to Ankor from Bangkok - I imagine that this must be quite easy to do!

The teaching thing for me is an essential I think.
