im petrified of going to oz alone

im so scared of going to oz alone, like pee my pants scared, Im 21 from glasgow, scotland and what i want to know is it easy to meet people? ahh please help xxx

Your ability to meet people is entirely up to you. I travel alone almost exclusively and I've met interesting people every time, every where because I was willing to talk with people. If you're that scared, maybe you should take some smaller trips first to get your feet wet and get more mature as a traveller. good luck!

We dont bite downunder, trust me you will make more friends than you ever have. Just say hello to everyone in that scottish accent

hey jadey,

dont worrie about meeting people when travelling alone all you have to do is make the first move and say hello to poeple

ive travelled around south east asia and some of europe alone, staying in hostels and ive never had a problem meeting people, just be friendly and you will be grand

A wise king had two sons. It was time for them to go out and see the world before they returned home to rule their own kingdom. The king sent them on two different routes to travel for a year and asked them to return home to tell him what they saw and learned.

The first son returned and told his father that the world out there is a great place, full of wonders, beautiful sights and friendly people. He had made many new friends and returned home with fond memories.

The second son returned and told his father that the world is a grim place, full of theives, ugly places and mean people. He struggled each day of the journey, was miserable and couldn't wait to return home.

The king smiled. While the sons went on different routes, they visited exactly the same places, met the same people and saw the same sights. The first son encountered the same spirit he brought with him, as did the second.

I think the same is true of our own adventures - if you go petrified, you'll find some thing to be afraid of. The reverse is true. And having traveled in Australia for three months, I don't believe you can find a better place to find friendlier people.

The only thing to be afraid of is the snakes, and an Australian herpitologist told me that most often, they're more afraid of you than you are of them

Hi Jade

I am travelling alone to Oz in September for the first time, it's perfectly natural to be apprehensive about it and there are a lot of us feeling the same way as you do! For this reason I have decided to go with a company called Oz Intro who basically collect you from Sydney airport, arrange your accommodation for the first week and arrange for you to do lots of fun stuff to get to know others before you travel off around the country! Not sure if it appeals to you but check out their website and see what you think.
