My passport expires in october, and i would like to travel from the UK to the netherlands in July and return mid august, will my passport's october expiry be an issue? thanks in advanve for any help

Are you an EU citizen? Then it won't matter, as long as your passport is valid and you are just travelling within the EU you will be fine.
And if the new British government hadn't scrapped the plans for a national ID card you wouldn't even need a passport, you could travel on that national ID card instead.
