8 Weeks In South America - Where to go?

Hi there,

There is dramatic coastline in Chile. Santiago is not worth the effort., but the trip through the mountains to Santiago induces tears....I would say the Atacama is worthwhile.

Go to Uruguay...I love Uruguay. The people are great. A very underrated place, in my opinion.

Anyhoo.

I would recommend spending at least 2 days at Iguacu Falls as this will give you the chance to see it from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides, which offer very different perspectives. Tours to the Brazilian side from Puerto Iguacu are easy to arrange or you can do it independently by public bus.

Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it. I hadn't even considered Uruguay so will definitely look into going there.

I think Peru is the nicest country in South America.
There you can see sooo many nice ruins of the Incas, Have a great nature around to do many activities and you have a great nightlife. Especially in Lima, Arequipa and Cusco.
In my opinion Cusco was the greatest of all those cities and from Cusco you can do a lot of daytrips...
I loved Peru!!!

If you are going to Cusco, don't only visit Machu Picchu. You also must see the city of Cusco itself and the nearby ruines (especially Sacsayhuaman). And don't forget the sacred valley, Maras, Moray, Tipon, Raqchi...too much to see!

Hmm maybe we should spend a lot more time in Peru then! I was thinking around 2 weeks, but I think I might up that to 3 - 3 1/2 weeks. Thanks guys!
