I'm heading to Colorado at the end of the month. Instead of spending more money on renting a car I figured I would try out the public transit (at least for the first couple of days and if I need to travel farther out I'll pick up a car) to get around the Denver metro area. I've mapped some spots on Google. I've visited the RTD website and looked at routes, fares, etc. So I have a basic working knowledge of the system, but this can only tell me so much. I'm looking for someone with experience to calm my concerns about ending up standing on a corner waiting for a bus or lightrail that won't ever arrive. Call me paranoid...
I'm primarily asking if their service is reliable. Are the buses and light rail on time? Are the schedules on the website pretty close to what happens on the road?
I know that in Sacramento the light rail is not precisely the same as the posted schedule but the trains keep very close to the fifteen minute increments that are posted. So I'm not operating under some delusion that what's printed is EXACTLY what happens, but if it's a close repersentation, that would be nice.
If anyone has any feedback, it would be appreciated.
