Thailand in August.

Hello Everyone

Piyush,
August is deep into rainy and typhoon season. I doubt the water visibility will be very good in either location. I would e-mail several Phuket & Pattaya dive shops and get their feedback.

There is close to Pattaya.

There will be no issues in Month of August. U can easily try all water sports. I have been there last July didn't find any issues

For sky diving google it or u will get info once u reach Thailand

agree... there is no problem to go in august!

enjoy

Agree with vegasmike - August is the rainy season in Phuket and I doubt you will get decent visibility for diving. Pattaya you may be luckier but I wouldn't say the sea in that area of Thailand is the cleanest at the best of times.

If you really want good sea conditions for diving then the East coast Gulf islands (ie Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao) would be better bets for good weather and calm seas.

I recently undertook some research on behalf of a friend regarding diving around the Similan Islands (north of Phuket and renown for excellent diving). There are numerous dive shops with websites and a number of them state : "Similan Islands National Park closed 15 May to 1 November each year." This is due to being the monsoon season and water visibility being poor.

I would second the recommendation of Koh Tao though I would be googling for dive shops there to ascertain water visibility. Up to you. Good luck.

Hello

I understand the weather in the south east of Thailand during October and November is Rainy, how much rain are we talking about though? Is it rain then sunshine, or is it pretty gloomy all the time?

I agree with vegasmike6. It's monsoon season in August and quite unpredictable too. Sometime it is quite sunny and the next moment it might rain instantly. This makes the water visibility poor which hampers the main purpose of diving and all the fun is lost.
