Banking/cards while travelling

How do you go about money whilst travelling as i assume uk cards will charge you per transaction? and dont fancy havin wads of cash on my person.

Would u set up an account with a NZ bank then transfer money via the internet?

Yes, that's exactly what to do; some banks allow doing so before you're in the country, but I personally found it easy enough to just open the account while there. (Some people here also recommend using a money-transferring service to get your UK money over to your NZ account for cheaper, but I'd personally be hesitant about using that regardless of how many good recommendations it has.)

you can get a cash passport from a travel agents which is a visa card but you can use it around the world well worth a look at.

Don't use "money transferring services" just either get UK Sterling Travellers Cheques, American Express issue them, I got mine from Barclays. Or just do a bank to bank transfer.
