I don't hear of many people going to Bulgaria but I read the other day that it's one of Europe's best kept secrets. Perhaps this could be the start of something for Bulgarian tourism.
I've heard people talk about going, but still end up choosing Greece or Turkey.
Looks a decent place though - and as you suggested, a bit of a secret to most.
200 miles to the coast. Just a short hop for hardened Ryanair travellers.

You need to read a little more. Per head of population of visitors, it is the most visited country in Eastern Europe - also the cheapest.

Any idea on the kind of prices we are expecting to pay? I've always considered trying to buy a holiday home in Bulgaria, a nice little place near the sea...

I can't see the point of Plovdiv - except for skiiers. As a summer destination, it's like people wanting a beach holiday in Canada and getting a flight to Winnipeg ! !
From Plovdiv to the coast (either east towards the Black Sea, or south to Northern Greece), is hours away.

yeah im looking forward to the country being filled with stag parties and hen parties. great.
I don't think there's any need to panic.
Opening up the skies from Stansted to Plovdiv is hardly gonna saturate the country with winos.
yeah i have lived there. it kinda already is.
