Heading to Australia - August 2011 :-) Job advice and such?

G'day! I'm a 25 year old Scot who at present, lives in the Lake District.

Hi there,
If you come to Australia in August it's a little bit late to find some job at any the vinyards. Lots of backpackers will probably have been waiting nearby for weeks or months. But there will still be some jobs for you if you're willing to wait. However, waiting can be time-consuming and money-blowing.

You can download this . It will help you plan you trip and tell you where to go.

Also, there are some snow jobs during the snow season; however, the snowfields hotels or industries hire employees before the snow season and hope them stay the whole season. You can try these websites: , , .

If you don't have a job in advance, you can try or . You do some work and exchange for room & board. In your free time, you can explore the region. You’ll learn real Australian life style from the host. It would give you a good chance to experience Australia and make some OZ friends and backpackers as well. It also gives you time to learn OZ culture without blowing everything.

When it comes to meeting people, the best way to meet nice people is staying in a hostel. That's true. My OZ fiance say it's the only place to meet nice people. You will meet backpackers from everywhere. But, remember to be cautious all the time.

Oh, almost forget to tell you a great website- -snip-. It's really a useful website.

Anyway, have a nice trip & happy working holiday!

Excuse me but the website above is not mine. It's a really useful website for travellers to find a job. That's a free job board. I found jobs on it, too. The jobs update daily and you people can find working hostels as well.

I don't know why I can't suggest the -snip- website.

It might not be your website, but I'd be very surprised if you weren't related to it in some way - I've seen it promoted in a much more obvious way on this forum at least once before, which is why it immediately triggered my snip reflex. My apologies if you really are nothing but a happy user of that website, but the policy on this website is to basically allow nothing which has even a hint of promotional posting, and experience has taught us to take a very strict line there, especially with newly registered users. (And yes, that can come over really badly when we make mistakes - but it results in an otherwise very nice and clean forum, so it's still deemed worth it.)

Either way, the website you linked to is just a front-end for the official website, with no original jobs of its own. Please refrain from linking to it in further posts.

Oh, I'm sorry but I didn't know that. I'll be careful next time.
Thank you

Thank you kindly for the helpful replies!
