Itinerary For Seattle

Hello everyone! I am going to be going to Seattle for the first time this Friday 1/28 and am currently planning my itinerary. I was wondering if there were any locals out there that could give some recommendations for the following categories:

Well, I had a consulting assignment in Seattle for 6 months back in 2004, so some of these may be a bit dated, but here are my favorite spots when I was there (PS--some of these are in the Kirkland area on the east side of Lake Washington and not right in Seattle):

Favorite steamed crab? -
McCormick& Schmick's (Lake Union)
Chandler's Crabhouse (Lake Union)
Crab Cracker (Kirkland)

Favorite oyster bar?-
Chandler's Crabhouse (Lake Union)--Ivar's or McCormick and Schmidt would be second--but really it is no contest--Chandler's has the best oysters (and oyster bar) by far in the Seattle area.

Favorite jazz bar?--I'm a rock fan--and a sports fan, so I spent most of my time at rock music places and down at sports bars near the baseball/football parks (a long way of saying I don't know).

Favorite place to have a martini?--I don't drink martinis, I drink wine--but I'm thinking that Purple Cafe and Wine Bar (Kirkland) is still a great choice

Favorite vista point?
Seattle Space Needle and their restaurant up at the top
Alki Beach (West Seattle)--made famous by the movie "Sleepless in Seattle". Only one good restaurant here--but the view is fantastic at night.
Snowqualmie Falls--in Snowqualmie about 12 miles east of town--this waterfall is actually taller than Niagara Falls

Favorite historical building?-
Seattle Space Needle and the Experience Music Project at its base--a must see place
And, of course, you need to visit Seattle's Famous Pike Place Fish Market. Another thing that is interesting is the Boeing Museum south of town--and lots of people don't realize that if you contact Boeing early before visiting town, you can sometimes take a tour of where they build their 747s and 767s up in Everest.

Favorite place to get away from it all?
Go north from Seattle and take the ferry to Friday's Harbor in the San Juan Islands or else go to Kirkland and visit either BluWater Bistro or the Beach Cafe--and take a walk out on the short pier there and enjoy the views.

Favorite park
In Seattle--go to the Japanese Gardens or the Washington Park Arboretium in town
or else go north to the Chateau St. Michelle winery about 15 miles north of town or, if you have about 5 hours, drive over to Olympic National Park--with the largest rainforest in the US

Favorite night club?--well, these things come and go the most--but VENOM is the new name for the place I went with people back in Seattle for hard-driving music. I was already married at the time (still am) and my wife was not traveling with me, so hanging out in nightclubs was not something I did more than once or twice--and therefore, I'm not really the expert on the Seattle nightclub scene.

Enjoy
