Table of contents

Hi,
Firstly, thanks for all the answers to previous posts. Much appreciated.

Hey Glynn,

You can change the entrydate of your posts. This will certainly be the easiest way to get the order corrected. There is a 'Posting Time' field at the bottom of each entry (when you're editing or creating a new entry). This can be backdated to whatever date you like and the table of contents will be sorted based on that. Sidenote: it can also be future dated and then your entry won't show on your blog until that date is reached.

Interesting suggestion on expanding the table of contents capability. Can definitely see the use and there are other users who use it in similar ways - documenting a lot of trips going back in the past as well.

Hi,

Changing the posting date worked a treat.
My table of contents page is now in the right order and as I do older trips they will fit into the correct spot on the list.

Many thanks.

Regards,

Glynn

One thing that we could probably do pretty easily at some stage is to add a 'country' heading. You probably have noticed that the TOC can be sorted by both the Title and the Entrydate (by clicking on the headings), and by adding a Country column, essentially it makes it easy for readers to find all posts about a certain country there. The countries are of course already broken out in the navigation of the blog, but having it here might also make sense.

Hi,
The country field is a good idea. It allows an extra level of sorting.

I see there being two types of TOC pages. The first is automatically created, just as it is at present, with no user input. This option would be suitable for those people who just want a simple list of entries in entry date order. This can have Title, Country, Date of entry showing.

The second TOC page is one that the user has a lot more control over, including sorting, headings, sub headings etc. I am now on my 2011 trip and so can think about it more whilst sitting next to a pool in Phuket (or may be not, given that I am sitting next to a pool in Phuket!!)

Another option is to have the TOC page as the default page when someone arrives at the blog, rather than the latest blog entry.

Thanks and regards,

Glynn
