Don't worry, you will not be the only tourist in Thailand at that time. Probably at least a half million tourists will show up in March, maybe a little more because it is still chilly in N. America and parts of Europe.
Unless you choose a hotel in a very remote section of Bangkok you will come across other tourists in bars, nightclubs, restaurants, on tours, in malls, etc. Hotels in all ranges in the Sukhumvit Nana area, along with malls, street vendors, nightlife and use of the Skytrain rail service.
If you want to be around kids and young travelers maybe the Khao San Road area will do. But no rail service in that area.
Hi there will be in Bangkok on march 23rd, but will go straight to Cambodia for Angkor Wat, then probably on the 26th we'll be back to Bangkok and roam around until the 28th, it'll be cool if we could share some stories and drinks in Khao San Road perhaps.
