I donot think it is economical to travel with China Spree.
You and your husband maybe can make a free travel in China. Just book the double way airtickets and hostel by yourself on internet, then hire a local guide (hour pay) who can speak english, then I am sure you will have a completely new impression to China, instead of following the tour group. on fact , I am the right person can help you ...

My husband and I are thinking of booking a tour with China Spree (their Epic China 29-day tour). Has anyone booked with them before? Anyone have any advice to share about tour groups in China? We took a tour of the middle east a couple of years ago (after 12 international trips where we backpacked with the Lonely Planet), and really enjoyed it. We're not the "everyone wear the red scarf and follow the guide's umbrella" sort of people, but more the small group, "let's climb this mountain" type.

hi,Do you have any Chinese friend? if you have, i suggest you can enjoy the real China well as your friend guide instead of the tour group.you know tour are commecial group,they would not explain or take the real China or chinese cultural to your except some famouse scenic spots.To enjoy the local China lifestyle and family culture, travel by local person would be the best choice.Or you can search by google as there are many colledge student volunteers,such as when you arrived Beijing then connect with a Bejing volunteer.they not only speak English well but aslo energetics aslo pleasure to survice for foreigners. i have been to China last year and did it by this way.

You can travel in Guilin Yangshuo where is reputed one of the most scenic places under heaven, here you can see real china, chinese culture, daily life of local people and family culture.

No tour in China. They will probably bring you to visit stores that sell herbs, pearls etc during the trip.
You can require that non-shopping private tour in China, surely you will have to pay more. and they will not show you to herbs store, pearl store.
