Airports and their true locations.

We've all seen and talked about it here so often. Paris Beauvais, miles from the city, the same goes for all the London airports (except City airport, which still isn't in the city), the airports that Ryanair and others use that are nowhere near where you think they might be.... Well how about this. I've just come back from working on the European mainland for a couple of weeks and discovered that Antwerpen Deurne airport is to be renamed 'Brussels North'.
Wonder how long it'll be before they rename Heathrow.. 'Manchester South'.

Robin Hood Airport is in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

New York East (Dublin)

Really, so we'll have Brussels South (Charleroi), Brussels North (Antwerp) and Brussels Central (? > Zaventem). It is like we are talking about train stations!

I'm glad Dublin has only one airport so Ryanair can't use some airport far far away. I like it too that Pisa airport is a mere couple of km from Pisa, but for those wanting to go to Florence with Ryanair, this is the airport they use and it's well over an hour of travel time (some 100km away!).

Can you even begin to think of what airport Ryanair would use if they started advertising flights to Amsterdam? It'd probably be appropriate to nickname it Berlin West, or thereabouts, give or take a km or 1000 !

My friend just kindly reminded me that Ryanair flying to Stockholm-Västerås is one of the most misleading labelling they can get. The distance from the airport to Stockholm is a whooping 110km, and takes more than 1.5 hours!! Similarly, Stockholm-Skavsta - that's another 100km away from Stockholm.

The Basel Switzerland airport is actually located in France

The Basel Switzerland airport is actually located in France

Well, in fairness, its full name is EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, so just to call it Basel Switzerland is a bit misleading

Amazing how if a food chain supplier says that a salt content is (perhaps) 1 gram over the actual content, they can be sued by the EU for millions, but Ryanair can say an airport that is actually in France, is in Switzerland and get away with it.
