Getting in Late to Lima

My Wife and I will be arriving into Lima late (Midnight) after a long flight and couple of stopovers from Melbourne. We will be pretty tired and just want to crash. Does anyone have any advice on where we should stay for the night or 2 before we venture off to Cusco? Just looking for a place that will be open at that time and will be comfortable enough to catch up on some much needed rest.

In Lima I stayed in The Flying Dog overlooking the park. It was brand spanking new in April 08. There are 3 of them, maybe more now so take a good look.

Plenty double rooms available there en suite etc which you might well need after that flight.

Think a taxi into central Lima was about 30-40 mins and about £10 sterling ish.

We were walking distance down to the waterfront (Miraflores I think??).

Anyway, it was a good hostel with plenty facilities.

Thanks.

as a side note if you want a day or two to relax then Haucachina about 2 or 3 hours from Lima along the coast towards Cusco is a great option. The sandboarding is fantastic.

Another point, if you have time maybe stop a day or three in Arequipa. It's a nice town and apart from anything it will help you to aclimatise to the dramatic changes in altitude. They can play havoc on some. No rhyme nor reason to it either. My wife, for example, is very fit and didn't take to it well where as I was absolutely fine. Peculiar but that's the way it is.
