All I know is that staff from their company has spammed our website before. In my book that makes them likely not very trustworthy if that's how they get their customers.
spaming is not a crime that can downgrade travel agencies' trustworthiness. However, you can search in many forums as thorn tree, trip advisor, fodors' ...... for their services' quality. My friends booked a Nam Cat Tien trekking tour with them and every thing was ok! But for sure, you should search opinions in various travel forums.

I really feel it would be a mistake to book everything with one company - what if you get there and discover their choices to be below par? Vietnam is such an easy tourist destination, you could book enroute and make out better. Remember the Tet dates!

Actually it does, because now no one can trust any of those forum posts about this company because every post could actually be written by staff, not real travellers. If a company is known for spamming, no one will trust them or anything ever written about them on a forum ever again. So yes, spamming does downgrade a travel agencies' trustworthiness. And in fact, in a lot of countries, it is also a crime (false impersonation and misleading).
Sam, I see most of travelers post many topics into many forums to ask for an advised travel agency and they got their replies and after their trips done, they feel very pleased. It is a crime, isn't it?
spamming is actually a advertising technique. However, I consider it has two opposite sides that if you can do better than you advertise, you will bring the trust to your customers who have given you a chance to serve them! If you do less than you advertise, ofcourse, you lose all!
So it's up to the way the travel agencies advertise and do their services. Me, a travel consultant from a company and the way I chose to advertise my company is my knowledge. I mean I use all my knowledge about traveling to help travelllers here for just one hope - that you will remember me and my company.

I also visit some other forums, it has some good comments about their trek Fansipan tour. Moreover, I contacted to their staff, and I got their reply quickly and professionally . So, at first, I decide to book only one tour to Fansipan, then i will decide other tours later.
I will give my comment about them later when I come back.

spamming is actually a advertising technique.
It is when the travellers aren't real travellers but people working for the company. This is how it works (we see this most often done by Vietnam/Indian and Nepalese businesses by the way):
- person working for company X asks for advice on forum about travelling with company X
- same person working for company X signs in under another username and replies that company X is indeed fantastic
- everyone else realizes this is a scam, except company X
- company X has just broken a few laws regarding false advertising, impersonation etc.
So yes, it is a crime, and no, it's not considered an 'advertising technique' in the rest of the world. It seems there must be some cultural reasoning behind it too, because as per above, there's a few countries where we just see this happening continuously, no matter how many times we ban ip addresses/names etc.

See, this is exactly what I mean. You work for Active Travel, so please cut the baloney.
And yes, I'm positive. Otherwise why would you be posting to this forum asking about travelling to Vietnam in 2 weeks when you are in fact already in Hanoi, which, surprise, surprise, is where Active Travel has their headquarters.
So just stop lying and admit to your wicked ways. In the mean time, I'm banning the name Active Travel from this forum. Guess you got what you want now?

You seriously underestimate the hatred and loathing most people (at least in the so-called "Western world") have developed for spam, scams and astroturfing. The volume of spam we get, combined with how essential electronic communication has become to our lifestyle, means that we really, really loathe it with a fiery passion. To be associated with spam is basically the end; there's no way we'll ever do business with someone who spammed us. ("It's only one little message", you might say; but when one gets thousands, the disruption adds up tremendously, and since there's almost never someone to directly attribute blame to, all the blame gets attributed to the spammers we do identify.) Astroturfing (what you did; pretending to be a customer) is more "rare" to be openly pointed out, but the backlash is maybe even worse, as it damages fundamental trust. A company caught astroturfing will carry a stigma about that for years to come.
If you want to get customers from this part of the world, this is something you must understand.
