Hi everybody have kind of a stupid question for u lol.....i'm heading over to SE Asia in jan. I have a Cdn passport which is in perfect condition on the inside but the country symbol on the front has completely worn off.....do think im gonna get hassled by border officials? is the condition of the front even a big deal? I'm already traveling on a budget & would rather not pay the extra coin & go through hassle of replacing if not necessary.....
thx
Though it depends on each country how they treat such passports, normally SE asian countries are a bit liberal when compared to USA or Europe. This is my personal experience. Also if you passport has too many entries, i suppose no questions would be asked.
All the best.
Is it 'machine readable' on the inside? I think that's what really matters most these days. Some of the older ones aren't, so if it's one of those, I'd probably go ahead and replace it (you can't get into the US with one of those anymore for example).
I think they fade really fast- my old one was so faded you couldn't tell which country it was from, but it was never a problem.
I think as long as the details page is clear, and the chip reading thingy is not tampered with, it should be fine. Afterall there are plenty of people who use fancy passport covers with no particular country symbol on it, and I've not seen them being checked.
