Netbook Travel Case

Hi All

Sleeves are perfectly fine if the material is relatively thick. I use that for my 12" Dell laptop (not a netbook) and it's served me well for two years of carrying in my regular daypack. Sometimes, I put a folded shirt underneath inside my bag for extra padding.

One good tip: always have at least a plastic bag together with the sleeve. If you're stuck at a place where it's raining heavily, put your laptop (with the sleeve) in the plastic bag, and into your daypack. This way, you don't have to worry about getting the laptop wet or soaked.

The "sleeve" I have is like a foamy cover to absorb minor bumps on the road and it works well for me. And the size is not too bulky either so I can slip into my daypack quite easily.

I had the same question a while back as I was paranoid my laptop would get damaged easily. I found hard 'Pelican Cases' like this one (www.casesbypelican.com/app-1080.htm) which are shockproof, waterproof and dustproof. But I found the vast majority of people travel with simple soft cases and have no problems if you take the commonsense precautions against damage...and I decided the hard case was too bulky and heavy!!!

Hey there (first post here, LP Thorntree guy). My wife and I are planning for our RTW trip and got this case, it's soft and light but provides some good protection.
