Mexico City Chow!!!

Im hittin up Mexico City for about a week and was wondering if any of you knew some exceptional, not to miss places to eat. I am a chef and am going to be on a sort of culinary tour, eating and drinkin to my hearts content. Also who has the best Tacos El Pastor. I was told not to miss El Califa. Any thoughts??? I'd also like to get to Oaxaca but don't know if Ill have the time.

Patricia Quintana is the best known chef in Mexico and runs a restaurant called Izote.

It is at 515 Presidente Masaryk in the Polanco suburb of Mexico City.

For a true Mexican restaurant where they do everything like they have for the past 100 years (and yet is still very elaborate and features dishes from various parts of Mexico), go to Los Danzantes in the southern suburb of Coyoacan.

It is at 12 Plaza Jardin Centenario.

Another place getting raves nowadays is Gloutonnerie, but I've never been there personally.

Enjoy

[ Edited to correctly spell Gloutonnerie ]

Have you checked out the Mexico board on chowhound.com?

That's the first place I'd click on.
