hi, thinking of going to india in marcg/april for 3-4 wks. might do some volunteering for 2wks. undecided. if i do obviusly will have less time to travel so at best would then hope to see a bit around kerala and the taj mahal b4 leaving delhi (guess ya gotta)
what's the climate like then, kerala mainly. is it a good time to go? how is it travelling around as a single gal? i believe the south is easier than the north for female travellers.
Kerala would be fine but it would be a bit hot in April, Dec-Feb would be much cooler in Kerala, but thankfully there would be no rains which usually start from first week of June !! There are no worthwhile tiger safari in Kerala. The best known places for tiger safari are Bandhavgarh National park in the state of Madhya Pradesh and the Ranthambhore National Park in Rajasthan.
Since u also intend to visit Delhi-Agra, u might well consider Ranthambhore National Park as it can be easily done from the Delhi-Agra-Jaipur circuit. Ranthambhore safari's can even be booked online, for more information visit the official tourism site of Rajasthan www.rajasthantourism.gov.in
It is generally safe for a female tourist, just follow the usual precautions and also:
1. Dress modestly
2. Dont hang out late in isolated places.
3. If lost, avoid middle aged men, look for elders or women for guidance
I believe this helps
During Mar/April, kerala will be hot and humid (32-34degC)during day time and not much of difference during night time too. See to it that you complete Kerala visit by Mid May because rains will start anytime after mid May.
Where do you want to travel in Kerala so that suggestions can be given.?
Though it is much safer for single female travellers to travel in the south, you still need to follow some basic precautions.
There is no tiger safari in Kerala but there is a night trekking in Kerala and if you you have luck you might see tiger. If you wish to see tigers best places are Bandhavgarh National park (Madhya Pradesh) and the Ranthambhore National Park (Rajasthan).Since anyway you will visit Agra and Delhi, you can visit one of these national parks.
But check if the national parks are open are not as some are closed duirng summer months.
Happy travels.
Hi,
I'm going to be in Kerala from end of March after doing a 2 week project in Goa, so if you like you can let me know if you get anything specific planned. I guess I'll be there from around 25th ish for a week or so. Thinking of taking some trips on the backwaters & looking for nice beaches etc. I think there are a couple of good towns worth visiting too esp. in the very south of the state. After that I'm heading up anticlockwise around the coast ... Pondicherry, Chennai, Calcutta etc etc.
I hope you have fun anyway!
