Hmm, you're right, and hard to believe we haven't had this request before now!!
The good news is we're reworking the entire mapping solution and how it's tied in with the blogs and this kind of thing will be a lot easier (it won't be Flash based anymore, so adding in multiple maps etc. is no problem).
The bad news is that this isn't going to be done by the time you want to publish this post And it really doesn't make sense to rewrite code which we're replacing altogether anyway in the next month or two.... otherwise I'd certainly have added an exception to handle this. Sorry

That's certainly the idea
It isn't actually too difficult as all the locations are saved as geo-coordinates, so swapping out the map that powers them doesn't really affect it much. What it will allow though is mapping to a lot more locations than we currently have, and a database of locations that's updated continuously.
