How much money should I bring with me to China?

I do not think you should bring much money if you have your credit card, it's very convienient to take the money from the ATM in Shenzhen, Hongkong and Macau.

I wanted to find out how much money would i need all in all on average. Any ideas?

It depends on how you shop and eat...

I mean just estimate on how you spend money on your shopping and how much you spend while you eat...In that way you can estimate how much money you will bring on your trip...

Also credit card is much convenient...If you have a credit card you can bring it for more comfortable shopping and safe...^_^

Well, yeah, but I have no idea about average prices on food and clothes. that's why I'm asking for a piece of advice.

I don't like using my credit card overseas or anywhere, except online shopping. I'd prefer to take my debit card. Just trying to figure out how much money would be enough. I don't eat/drink much and into healthy food. Plus I'm not going to shop hard as I've just returned from a shopping trip

China is not expensive- but Hong Kong is. As long as you stay on the Chinese side of the border, and you've already paid for accommodation- you could live comfortably on $15-$20/day (100-150 RMB). If you ate only in regular Chinese restaurants and took buses, not taxis, with no special attractions, you could live on $8-$10/day (50-70 RMB)

In Hong Kong, everything is about 5x the price. A single meal will cost $15-$20. And while you might not plan to do any shopping, when you get to Hong Kong, and see all the stores, you might change your mind.

BTW, if you go to Macau or Hong Kong, and want to re-enter China, you will need another visa (or a multiple entry visa).
