In May I'm setting off on a RTW trip, visiting USA, Canada, Tahiti, Aus, NZ and Hong Kong. While there's an abundance of info on the net for all the other places, Tahiti is a bit of a mystery. I gather it's pretty expensive and not a typical backpackers destination (maybe I should've done a bit of research before booking!), but I was wondering if anyone has been there and can provide any help.
One web site I visited listed a fair few hostels with dorm accommodation, but none of them had any way of booking in advance. Will I be ok finding somewhere when I get there, and what sort of price can I expect to pay? I'm also planning to do a bit of island hopping (Moorea in particular), but again I have no idea where I can stay.
If anyone's been there and can offer any advice, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
