A quick look at www.renfe.es seems to suggest that there are no trains to La Línea. Therefore you will need to take the train to Algeciras, then bus from Algeciras to La Línea. Finally, walk across into Gibraltar.
Trains from Madrid to Algeciras take a little over 5 hours. The bus to La Línea would be just over half an hour. Then if you get a bus which runs along the coast road, hop off at the appropriate stop (first stop after you pass the new marina) and you will be in Gibraltar in five minutes.
Sorry, I have no idea about Eurail.

Another option which we have is to travel down to Malaga and join another group who will be chartering a bus into Gibraltar. What about the means of transport from Madrid to Malaga?

I would imagine Madrid to Málaga by train would be only a little less than madrid to Algeciras, though you never can tell because some routes in Spain are extra slow because of mountains. You can check any railway timetables on www.renfe.es.
You could also fly to Málaga. I've never done it, but I've flow Madrid to Almería and it took just under an hour. I don't remember it being particularly expensive. It suited me because it saved me a taxi from the airport to the city centre, saved me trying to find my way around the centre of Madrid and night, and anyway it was freezsing cold and raining. I preferred to stay inside the airport and wait for a flight.
Don't be put off by the need to walk into Gibraltar. It's a short walk, completely straightforward, and it will probably be the only time in your life that you'll walk across an operational airport runway!

Thanks for info. My friend checked the long distance bus service from madrid-barajas t4 - Algeciras. It costs about euro 40 per trip, so we're considering taking the 12 hour journey upon our arrival in barajas airport. seems like it's cheaper than taking train. it costs euro 70 to travel down to algeciras from madrid
i guess it will really be a once-in-a-lifetime experience to walk across operational airport runway!!
im planning to travel a bit in europe after WYD. for about two weeks. pretty budgeted. which countries would you suggest me to do? i have a friend in brest, france, and another in freiburg... some in UK. lol. im pretty confused where to go. haha.

Spending an extra 7 hours travelling in order to save € 30 doesn't sound a great deal to me. On the other hand, you can pick up the bus at Barajas so it will save you the cost.time and hassle of getting from the airport into the city centre.

I can't remember whether there are different destinations in La Línea or not, but ideally you want a bus that will run along the coast road rather than going into the centre of the town. Then, as I said before, jump off when you see that you are close to the Rock. (You can't miss it ).
As you will already be in Spain, why not spend the rest of your holiday seeing a bit more of Spain? Otherwise, Brest sounds good; it's a place I'd like to visit. Personally Germany never appeals.

You really don't need to charter a bus, train and bus travel in Spain is so cheap, you don't even need a rail pass if all you are doing is that journey.. you can check the prices online at www.renfe.es. You should skip Gibralter anyway and go right to Tarifa, it's a 30 minute ride from Algeciras and is dirt cheap, like 2 or 3 euros, probably less. Tarifa is home to one of the best kite surfing destinations in the world, and it is loaded with young people from all over the world. On top of that, they have fantastic beaches, to die for .. great night life and cheap accommodation..Gibralter is like Niagara Falls, BORING.. full of older English people too.. I live in Spain, and I was just in Gibralter and Tarifa, trust me on this on.. there is nothing that interesting in Gibralter for young people.

At the moment, 1 euro is about 4.20 MYR, hence the conversion rate is a concern for us (and me too!!). We're thinking of hopping onto a bus in Barajas airport to save the hassle of entering the city. I guess I cant say much about this arrangement. But i'd like to check with you budget hostel/B&B in Madrid where I could stay for a night prior to my departure from Madrid. My flight is on a Sunday morning 11am. How long does it take to go to Barajas airport from the city? Transport-wise, is it convenient?
:P I don't speak spanish nor french, hence I'm still hesitating about the traveling europe part... Haha. Probably going solo.

Thanks for your advice. I'm traveling to Gibraltar for Youth Arise International festival, where youths from all over the world will be gathering for a youth event. Yeah, so this time round, Gibraltar will have lots of young people... So, where would you suggest me to travel for two weeks in Europe? :D

Barajas is about 15 km from the city centre so I imagine a bus will take half an hour or so. I'm sure there must be plenty of buses going to and fro, though I have no knowledge of them. Likewise I'm afraid I can't help you with budget hostels as that is not the field that Little Hotels works in.
The Renfe website (www.renfe.es) has an English-language version for finding out about trains. The Alsa website (www.alsa.es) also has an English page to help you find out about long-distance buses. Alsa isn't the only company operating city-to-city buses, but they are one of the biggest so an easy source of information.
