hello,just booked my flights,leaving on the 24th may from heathrow to bangkok thailand for 1 month,then flying to cairnes via sydney,flights £560,well cheap.sta travel.backpacking australia east coast for a year on a working visa.planning on getting to sydney for christmas time and new year,see what happens!if anyone is leaving same date get in touch maybe meet up.bill

Nice trip! Don't get stuck in Cairns too long, it's the kind of place that;ll suck you in if you let it (and no-one knows why because there's nothing to do there ... it's the jump off point for the GBR & Cape Trib).
Good luck saving money, Oz is expensive compared to Asia!
6 weeks sounds nice!you hve to have a visa for thailand if your staying longer than 30 days.im landing in bangkok 24th may prob stay there for a couple of nights, then plan on heading south to phuket,koi samui(full moon party),krabi,phi phi don.i want to do as much as i can in a month really! then heading for cairnes,iv looked on the net looks like loads of things to do up ther!white water rafting,diving,skydiveing,4x4,list is endless. cnt wait!come on may!!

yeah we've got our visa, it was free as well...result!
Just went on Thai consulate and any visa's applied for between may last year and end of march this year are free! we got a tourist visa so get 60 days
sounds similar to us. the full moon party is on koh phangan...we'll be there for the june party, so might see u there!

yeah the 16th sounds about right, that's the one we're going to we've booked our accomodation for it coz it gets busy, staying at a place called coco gardens, on the beach..but not on the full moon party beach coz that gets packed.
we're getting to the island on the 14th and staying for 4 nights.
apparently the party before the full moon and after the full moon is better than the actual full moon party itself! so looking a good few nights partying hard
