Safety? I trust you have life insurance if you are going to Colombia.
I'd go to the north coast and tours in the jungle (as in that way you are probably not going to stumble on someone growing drugs and get killed).
While you'll probably have a fairly quiet holiday, you may not.
Okay, but does anyone have a concrete ininerary that takes me from bogota, through the "best of colombia", to ecuador??

So, I figured out that I want to spend most of my time on the caribbean, and then somehow go to Ecuador by buss.
So: Start Bogota - to the caribbean (cartagena and so forth) - then to ecuador.
Does anyone have any idea how long the busrides are? What is a good itinerary? A good route from teh caribbean to ecuadfr (one or two stops?)
