Mysore, India

I am going to be in Bangalore for 9 days. I would like to visit Mysore during my stay. I would appreciate any information regarding the best way to get there from Bangalore and the best place to stay in Mysore when you are on a budget. I would also love any information regarding yoga in Mysore.

I have been to Mysore twice traveling from Bangalore. First time I was part of a bigger group. We had driver to Mysore and took train back. That was long back, so dont remember much, but think we booked the train tickets the same day. The last time I rented driver with two friends and enjoyed that. It takes about 3 hours to drive, depending on the traffic. There are some nice places to stop on the way, so I recommend it. Call just dial, tell them what you are looking for, and people offering this service will call you and give you prices. If you get a driver, stop at Kamat on the way for breakfast/lunch. If I remember correctly we paid around 4000 INR for a trip B'lore - Mysore - B'lore.

Guessing the best budget option for transport is to take auto to Majestic bus stand, take local bus to Mysore. I would do that if I was spending more time in Mysore. But personally I would prefer spending time in B'lore and take day trip to Mysore.

I cant help you with the yoga in Mysore. Only stayed in Siddhart Hotel in Mysore. Years ago, so dont remember the tariff.

Welcome to India.
