Plans for NA travel this May(ish)/Anyone else doing the same

Hi!

I travelled on Greyhound and found it really easy. They link up to every city so you can pretty much go anywhere. You may find a few weirdos on the buses though!

May is a good time to start, but Seattle will still be chilly then. I think the Amtrak Pass would be better - Amtrak's Cascade service runs from Vancouver to Seattle and on to Oregon - very nice. From there you could continue on to coastal California on the regular Amtrak service. The problem is that you'd be restricted to the Amtrak stops and you would be bypassing many great places without a car. I don't think you'd have enough cash to rent that car - even hostels are pricey these days, and food prices have really increased. I recommend for inexpensive shared rentals - a good deal because the host can help you see the area. You might be interested in the Green Tortoise bus tours too - they also start in Seattle, and the age group is right for you.
