Hey mate,
Starting in Perth would require a long and expensive flight across to the east coast in order to see Byron and the Whitsundays. The Gold Coast is half way up the east coast, so you would have to back track in order to see it all. I would recommend flying into Melbourne or Sydney and working your way north up the coast through Byron, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Cairns etc.
