Hello Travellor's Point!
You wouldn't travel with your vehicle, you'd have it put in a shipping container on a cargo ship or do RoRo (Roll on/Roll off... they drive it off the dock onto a specialized car carrier ship) then you'd fly back separately and meet it in the US.
Also - and this can be a real hassle - investigate the rules/regulations for you importing the car into the US. When it's travelling in conjunction with you and you're returning to live in the US you're usually given a grace period where you're allowed to insure and drive it without issue, but the US is very particular about Department of Transportation and EPA guidelines so upgrading/modifying your vehicle to make it "legal" for the US can be a very expensive hassle. In any case, check this out before you go to the trouble of importing it.
Good luck and have fun.
Cheers,
Terry
