Thank for posting your planning. You are welcome to India. The climate will be better, you may expect occassional rain at eastern India in early Sept. i am not sure your planning, in case u are interested in nature, u may plan Himalayas may be Himachal Pradesh or / and Uttrakhand, You may find so many cities in the World but visiting Himalayas it is different. Welcome to Calcutta now it is called Kolkata, this will be festive season, you will like it, I can inform u the exact dates, when the 'Durga puja' will be celebrated. I am from the same city.

There is daily flight to Bangkok from Kolkata by Thai Airways.

Wish u happy and memorable journey.

Hey,

If you have 16 days in India you would probably be better flying into New Delhi, staying in the North east then flying back out from New Delhi. I spent around 14 days and my route was the well-traveled Delhi - Jaipur - Agra - Varanasi - Delhi. You could also fit in a nice trip to one of the national parks.

check out www.indiamike.com its great for india travel tips

Hi Colin,

Delhi would be cold during November and December. There is a golden triangle tour called Delhi-Agra-Jaipur. You can see these places during your visit. Besides, if you are nature freak, you can visit Himachal Pradesh for mountains (Himalayan ranges), for Wildlife, Sariska National Park and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.

You get connection of flights from Delhi to Kolkata and Kolkata-Thailand. If you want to know about more places, you can visit [snip]

Best regards,
Kavita

re: Agra.
It's a real bun fight, always has been, but last time I went it's gone form the sublime to the utterly ridiculous.
My advice is to hang out in Bharatpur, which has a really groovy bird park (if it's rained yet in the last few years) and the food is super yummy.
You can then do a surgical strike on the Taj, taking in fatepuri sikri on the way in (that's all part of the same taj story so you should do it also) . and then get the hell out of there all in 1 day, and back to your nice place in Bharatpur. I can recommend a place, but everyone is related there, I think the food ranges form good to fantastic. A mate of mine stayed in a 5 star in Agra (cant remember which but a famous hotel chain) and got food poisoning!.
