what if I can't carry a backpack??

Hi all

I think you will be fine with a holdall on wheels. As I'm small and find backpacks difficult, I have travelled quite a lot with a holdall on wheels (including round Australia) and not found them to be a problem at all. As they tend to be quite big though it can be tempting to take too much, so I'd still try and pack as light as you can.

A roll-on suitcase / bag should be fine. Where backpacks are really handy is going up stairs, on cobbled streets, dirt roads and the likes. In Australia, this probably won't be much of an issue for you. Depending on what you plan to do while you're here of course - obviously hiking won't work with a suitcase on wheels Suitcases on wheels are great for comfortably walking around well-paved cities and towns.

I agree with bex too, pack as light as you can. You'll still have to pick up the thing occasionally.

Might pay you to look at how much you are actually taking rather than how you're going to carry it.

There's several sites around for a good starting point. Gets addictive though.

Thanks guys.... great advice!
