Hi there im sorry to be asking yet another visa question but I need some help. I will be travelling to Bangkok on the 9th March and I will be staying there for 2 nights after which I am taking a 30 tour with STA travel around Laos, Vietnam etc. I will be arriving back in Bangkok on the 9th April. I have a flight booked from Singapore on the 8th May to Oz.
I understand that I will be give a period of stay for 30 days when I first enter thailand but because I am leaving and re-entering overland I understand that I will only get be allowed to stay for 15 days. I had planned to travel down to Singapore from Bangkok as I will have 28 days to pass before my flight is due.
You kind of just answered your own question here. Your intended stay on your second entry is 28 days, which is way longer than the 15-day visit pass that you get at the border. So, yes, you need a tourist visa. Your options are:
- If applying from home, get a double entry visa as you'll be entering the country twice.
- If you plan to get it while travelling in one of the neighbouring countries, then a single entry is fine.
- If you're near the border, do a visa run - get out of the country and back in before the 15 days is up.
- Change your plan and take a flight back into Thailand instead
