Europe help - first time travelling

Hi everyone

Are there particular cities or countries that you don't want to miss? This question is way too vague for anyone to give any solid advice.

I think you should visit Sofia, it's a lovely city
This is a very romantic place to stay -snip-

I think that the most practical route would be either 1) down the Rhine Valley to Northern Italy and back up via France or vice versa or 2) down through France to Spain 3) going east, Amsterdam, Berlin, Krakow, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Balaton and back via Salzburg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

One month to 6 weeks would give you enough time to do either 1) or 2), for 3) you definitely need 6 weeks.
