Length of time for approval of Class 300 Visa in Australia

Hi all,

In my experience visa applications always take a lot less than the time they tell you. I was told my residency application for New Zealand could take up to 16 weeks and it ended up taking 7. As long as your case is fairly straightforward and they don't have to come back to you with any queries or questions, I would guess the application will go through a lot quicker than 5 months. I hope that makes you feel a bit better.

You haven't mentioned the citizenship & applicant country of your fiance, which can have an affect on processing times.

Saying that, 5 years ago I applied for a subclass 309 (partner/spouse visa) via London.

I have heard that currently processing times are a lot longer in London now than they were when I applied - as in, my 309 took 3 days to be granted and people typically didn't wait for more than 8 weeks. Now however, people are waiting 4-6 months for a 309 via London, and I would suspect a fiance visa would be similar. But as I said, country of application and citizenship of applicant factor into processing times.

Thank you Rob

oh yes, it is Indonesia the location. Wow! A few days it used to take?? Seems a bit ridiculous then blowing out to many months. Don't they know people have lives to get on with not to mention the expense associated with it all.

Anyway, I am sure it will all be a distant memory soon ( until we have to apply for the next level of visa) but the shouldn't take so long.

Thanks for your reply Rob, it is most appreciated.

Adam

Just a heads up, the onshore processing time for a spouse visa following a PMV could be in the months as well. From what I can tell from other forums, the processing times of partner visas seem to have got a bit longer in recent times.

Of course, this could easily change - particularly for the 2nd stage processing of the spouse visa (2 years down the track). Just remember to keep evidence of your relationship over those 2 years to provide at that stage, including things like joint bank accounts, names on utility bills, photos etc.

in my case

AUGUST 12, 2010 i sent the docs... they received it and lodged it

AUGUST 19, 2010 the aus embassy here in manila received the docs

AUGUST 24 or 25, 2010 (im not sure) letter from the embassy was been sent to me.. they ask mo to have the medical etc etc..

SEPT 9, 2010 the medical was sent to australia... i dont know if i will be having an interview or not...so its not 6mos long... dont be worry to much

Hello Raysel and liz82, did you hire an immigration agent for your visa 300 application? I am also from the Philippines. I see that your blogs have been posted in the previous year. May I know if your application has been successful? Will you please advise me as to what documents are necessary as proofs of the relationship. May I know what to avoid if there are any? Thank you.
