From Vietnam to Laos

In about two weeks ill be headed to northwest vietnam where I am hoping to make a smooth hop over in to laos... At the moment im thinking to use the border crosiing at tay trang.... Will be going from Sapa or Bac Ha and was wondering if anyone has done the trip or has any advice in regards to booking agencies, visas, cost and time??? I have read some pretty bad accounts of the journey but dont really want to have to return to hanoi just to get a sleeping bus!!!! thanks

We have travelled overland from Laos to Vietnam via the northern border. The bus started in Muang Khua and ended in Dien Bien Phu.

Other than the bus nearly falling down in to a ravine the trip was a nice one through a few small villages and lots of mountains and trees.

We passed by the bus which was going the other way. It had more people on it.

We had travelled up the Ou river to Muang Khua There are other options.

The bus we took from DPB to Sapa took all day - 12.5 hours.

Taking motorcycle from vietnam to laos and selling it?
bought a minsk from saigon and rode it up to hanoi, now i want to go to laos with it but i want to sell it there (laos). is this possible?

i've heard the laos border stamp that you have a motorcycle with you in your passport over your visa and you must leave with the bike or pay a 2000US fine

has anyone had any experience in this matter

if from the uk and am travelling asia. i have the reg papers for the bike but no international licence, insurance, carnet de passage

thankyou
