I intend a driving tour from San Francisco to Las Vegas( hopefully via Yosemite) then returning by a different route. I have no desire to go to LA and would be thankful for suggestions.Ideally i'd like to spend 3- 4 days in each city.This is likely to be in September/October.
The weather in San Francisco will be about perfect for sightseeing at that time frame.
Yosemite is best visited after the Labor Day weekend holiday (first Monday in September). You probably will have no snow issues in Yosemite at that time even in late October. Do take the escorted 2-hour tour of the Yosemite Valley, it's worth the money.
Las Vegas, expect some heat and hot weather. Visit Hoover Dam.

Nothing I know of sounds cool between those cities. I live in Phoenix. I can think of yes, Yosemite. ummmm the salt flats are through there, but i wouldnt go out of my way to see them. in san francisco stay at the 'Green Tortoise hostel' one of the best places ive ever stayed.
