Places to see in Frankfurt or nearby

Hi people,

Hi,

If you're interested in art, check out what's on at the

For history and culture etc you could include a visit to the Römerberg (sorry, can't find a website), and any of the numerous churches, including the cathedral - the (website in German). There's also the and Paulskirche (again couldn't find a website - it's close to the Römerberg, so you could combine this easily).

If natural history interests you, the , is one of Europe's largest natural history museums.

If you like variety theatre, you could go to a show at the (website in German), although as you seem to be on a budget this may not be an option.

For views over the city visit the .

For trips out of Frankfurt you could go to the . The English part of the website isn't yet complete but there is some info available. If you get a decent amount of snow while you're there, you could include a trip up to Feldberg along with many locals who go up there with sledges. Plus you can get some excellent wintery photos.

You could also visit and its Schloß or , a picturesque university town.

Not sure about the cost of travel to Berlin but the website should be able to help you with this and with planning other trips out of the city.

Hope this is of some help.

Once you are in Italy why are you not going south, Naples even to Sicily? Or north to the border with France (Pisa, Genoa) and go to Monaco, Nice? Explore the Eurail Italy or the Eurail France-Italy Pass web site maybe the saver pass that is shared by 2-5 people traveling together at all times can suit you.

i would personally bother not too much with Frankfurt itself. The main sights in the city can be covered in about half a day, perfect when you are flyin in in the morning or out in the eveing.

The sourrounding area is much more interesting IMO. Mainz, Heidelberg, the wineyards, the Rhine Valley ... the possibilities are endless.

Btw, if you are flying to Frankfurt Hahn note that you are quite away from the city Frankfurt Transfer time from HHN to FRA is 5 hours minimum. It might be better exploring the area around Hahn, which is quite touristy as well - search for Mosel Valley
