Just your normal 'B' licence will be fine.
However, you 'Will' need to get additional insurance. You can either buy international cover in Europe before you go (you will need all the car details and the owners address etc.) - or get your friend to add you as a 'named driver' on their current policy - locally. the second option will be quicker and possibly cheaper. Obviously, to add you on to their policy - they'll need all you details in advance.
