Hiking in Western/Central Europe

lukemarson has indicated that this thread is about Western Europe

Hiking in Feb? I would recommend the Canary Islands, Madeira or Sicily, these are the places that are bound to be snow-free.

I think Gomera was the island among the Canaries that was considered heaven to hikers. Check it out.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, unfortunately Feb is the only timeI can get some time off work between now and April (when I'll be going to Canada/US and doing some hiking in Vermont).

You can get a flight direct/non-stop from Antwerp to Manchester with CityJet (formerly VLM) and then a direct train to Windermere in the Lake District, from the Airport station - platform 1.
There really is little in Europe to compete with the hiking in Cumbria and no need to go to either Brussels or Schiphol.
