Hi All,

Hey

Ive been in Bangkok for 3 days and I really really do not like the place and cannot wait to fly off today !!

If I were you id spend 2-3 days in bangkok if there is anything you want to see if not, id get the sleeper train or fly up to chiang mai - I loved it there! Very friendly and so so cheap. Theres lots to do there, visiting the Sunday Night Market is a must - loved it, and they have the best food stalls there also, then there is the other night market/bazar which is just as good fun (sunday one is better though) then there is tiger kingdom which i just loved and the animals are realy good taken care of and they aint drugged - I don't visit Zoo's so i can't tell you what the chiang mai one is like but i know they let the cars in to drive around so i don't think it'll be great! Then you have the treks from 1-3 days and on this you can do elephant trekking, white water rafting, bamboo rafting. If you are interested in elephants my friend went to Patara elephant farm cost 5,600 baht, but she said it was worth every penny, she got shown how to feed, clean, bath the animals (you get given your own elephant for the day) and then you go on a trek with them and there is lots of fun involved seems deifnately worht the money, but there are a few up there just do your research! From there you could go a few days to chiang rai and Pai which are meant to be really nice - i ran out of time and couldnt go! could easily spend 2 weeks up north.

then you could either go over to laos for a week or so but im not sure that would be long enough or you could go back down to bangkok and over to cambodia for a week or two then make your way down to the islands - koh phangan - koh tao - kh samui and then over to the west coast!

I wouldnt stay on haad rin beach on koh phangan - i stayed there, its not a very nice beach as thats where the parties take place but i have heard the other beahces are really nice i think one i was reocmend was baan tai...check it out! then koh tao i stayed on chalok ban bech wchi was lovely and there are some really good scuba diving spots. i stayed at buddha view diving resort and did a discover scuba dive which was so so much fun!! The islad is tiny and really easy to getr around by, taxi's/bikes whatever. Then koh samui i stayed at chaweng which i wouldnt recomend - dirty/smelly/tourist trap so check out some of the other quieter beaches but again if you want to head to chawen for a bit of nightlife it would be easy to get too!

i didnt make it to the west coast so cannot comment!

have a great time

Hi Ashleigh,

thanks so much for your deatiled reply!!
We really dont like the sound of Bangkok, and from what people have told us dont plan on spending anytime there at all! we will literally be staying one night and then leaving in the morning!

We havent really thought about heading up North as we wanted to spend more time down south before we move onto elsewhere. But i do like the sound of the Tiger Kingdom!
We have booked accommodation in Koh Phangang which isnt on the Haad Rin beach as we had read reviews it wasnt very nice! so have booked one on Ban Tai beach which is lovely, we booked it as we are in Thailand for roughly 6 weeks so wanted to plan it around the Full Moon Party in June!

Cant wait to go now, hope you are having a good time on your travels and thanks again for your advice!!!

Kim x
