Uyuni to Salta via...

Will be traveling through South America. Would you suggest traveling from Uyuni to Salta through:

I did not enjoy tupiza at all. Got food posining and spend a week in bed, i would avoid it if i had the choice.

Salta is amazing

Too bad you did not enjoy Tupiza, but that only got to do with personal coincidence. The town and surroundings are pretty nice though. Salta is nice as well.

I am guessing you want to take a tour to one of them. Like a 3-4 day altiplano/salt flats tour? At least for San Pedro as there is not much of regular transport if I remember correctly.
Tupiza can be reached by bus or train, but you'll miss out on all the wonderful landscapes in between them.
San pedro itself is nothing much, not bad either. The mixed reviews are probably based on the fact that there are quite a few travellers. Some people, travellers themselves, don't like that. Always funny to me (this is MY traffic jam lol).
Anyway, the good thing about San Pedro is the totally different environment compared to parts of Bolivia. The Tatio geysirs, the Atacam desert, sand dunes, moon landscapes etc are all within reach (daytrips).

I would go for San Pedro and then take on of the 12-hour trips from there over the Andes to Salta.

Cheers
Mike
