I can start any day in May 2012. I any thinking about hiring Nepal Environmental treks & Expedition ( P.) Ltd. to help me trek to the base camp. Pretty much, I'm flexible with the dates. I am just trying to find a buddy or two to lower the costs. Are you set with your expedition?

I just got my flight tickets to KTM for the 2nd of May, departing the 20th of May. I am planning to travel without a guide, the trek is simple and the path well marked. Just in case it will be possible to hire a guide directly on spot, so you also have a chance to meet the guide in person and bargain for a price. Let me know your thoughts.

Well, I'm not an experienced mountaineer but I am physically fit. I cannot trek by myself for 2 weeks due to limited experience in the wilderness. Do you plan to carry your own food and equipment? As a non-experienced trekker, do you recommend me to book a trip prior to landing in KTM or just arrive in the city and bargin?
I have to say that I have some mountaineer experience by living in Switzerland and being in the army helps me in the wilderness and trekking.. Ill suggest to get a guide if you are likely to have problems with high altitude sickness, so you can count on him if you don't feel well. For your wallet the best option is to get a guide after landing in Lukla..but of course is much more easy if you book everything from the states but expensivier..
If you don't find no-one else, you can be sure the tour operator will have other trekkers on list.
I have all the equipment, mostly army gear and army food supplies, and Ill have a tent with me just in case..
I'm planning to get a guide only if once there the weather is bad, otherwise i wont need it.
