Overland from Morocco to Mauretania

I intend to travel overland from Morocco to Mauretania and Mali
I have planned my trip as far as Rabat and Marrakech in Morocco
Any further South is new to me
I am not in a great hurry but is a week long enough to allow from Marrakech to Mali
