American Road Trip

Hi All,

Hey Kieran
I've never done a road trip as such but I have been to America a few times and visited several places.
Obviously you have your big ones like San Fransisco, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and I can recommend all of them - even though they are a little pricy. The ones not so well known that I enjoyed were San Diego, Aspen, Nashville and Charlston. I reckon you should look them up and see what ya think!

Ive never done a road trip before but this site will surely help you look for routes, also it includes map:

Currently Planning our route now! We land in New york in may and then making our way through north america down to Miami and then flying to cartagena in columbia and doing south America! We not got much so far but were thinking New York to Washington then possible car hire driving too San Fan via Chicago, wanna see things such as mount Rushmore and yellowstone!

Cheers for the replies guys, mega excited now! Had planned in going right across America, starting in Florida and picking up some of Route 66, going right up the west coast then flying to South America!

It sounds like a few people are fans of it anyway - from what I was reading American road trips don't seem that popular.

I see your looking to hire a car applepie. I done a wee exercise, and dependant upon how long you looking to go for, you'd probably b better off buying a car - thus us buying a camper van. I spoke to a member on here who has tips on buying in America! Give me a shout if you want his details!

not popular you say? you are wrong. you need to start getting serious if your going to do this trip. why are you skipping new Orleans.

Thanks Kduggie! yeah defo would love his details, need as much info as possible we really want to buy a car think it would be the best way to go about it got any more ideas on your route?

This is a pretty good breakdown--especially the part where LA isn't mentioned I'd throw Boston in there too.

New Orleans should before several of those cities

Yeah sure Boston and New Orleans are big destinations but I've not been to either of them so I couldn't recommend them. I didn't like L.A. - had some bad experiences there. Was just trying to recommend some less visited places.
