My favourites from Cairns to Brisbane are:
- Fraser Island for lakes, scenery and relaxing
- Eungella National Park for hiking, scenery, waterfalls, platypus
- Airlie Beach for access to Whitsunday Islands, sailing, relaxing, snorkelling, Whitehaven Beach
- Mission Beach, for the beach
- Cairns for access to the Great Barrier reef, snorkelling, diving, access to Atherton Table Lands, Cape Tribulation
If you've already booked Fraser Island, the Whitsundays and have your bus pass you're pretty much ready to go. When I was in Cairns you could book a cheap snorkelling day trip for about $60 which included lunch and equipment hire so you can do it pretty cheap. How were you planning on going to Fraser Island? If you're in a 4x4 tour group you'll definitely meet people who are travelling and might find someone who's going the same direction.
All of the above plus Agnes Water/Town of 1770. Beautiful beach.
thanks tim good advice, they were the places that i thought were gonna be the best. yes i've booked the 4x4 driving at fraser, can't wait! and thanks for the cheap snorkelling advice too dude
