Last night there was a great episode of "Madventures" on Nat Geo. The boys went to Yemen.
Besides the questionable safety, there seemed to be constant roadblocks, literally and figuratively, to any movement.
I haven't been there in the last 3 years but i have family living there. this'd be a bad time to travel to yemen.
there's a civil war going on in the northern part of the country and a lot of the tribes are becoming increasingly hostile towards tourists. there have been a lot of incidents of kidnapping and killing tourists in the last couple of years.
this is a pitiful situation for such a beautiful country. the geographical diversity that a small country like yemen offers - from desert to hills to beaches - is quite unique.
Things will hopefully change in the times to come. Until then it is not advisable to travel to Yemen.
