Am torn between the mirage village hotel and the bedouin lodge - any experiences welcome.

Take the bus!
2 years ago when I was there last we organized a transfer through our hotel in Dahab and it cost us EG75pp. They collected the 3 of us from Sharm airport and delivered us to the door. Nice aircon minivan too. Previously I have hired a private taxi at approx EG130 one way but make sure your driver stays awake! (Mine kept sleeping on the job!).
I used to live in Dahab so I know the hotels you are looking at very well. The Bedouin Moon hotel is a little bit out of town but has it's own restaurant, dive school and is fairly recently refurbished. The Mirage Village is in town (handier to shops, restaurants etc) but very basic.

Dahab is awesome! If you are going there to dive check out Big Blue Dahab, I dove with them for 2 weeks and they were great! I stayed at Penguin and liked it a lot. Take the bus it is cheaper.
