Just been Drugged & Robbed in Bangkok -any suggestions?

Hi,

I would definitely see a doctor as it's better to be safe than sorry. You don't know what happened while you were passed out - you could have got a bang to the head which should definitely be checked out.

Sorry to hear about what happened- I hope you feel ok soon.

Hi,

I got drugged by a weird tasting Oreo in Bangkok on... Tuesday it must have been. Woke up to find my camera (and photos ) stolen, my mobile phone stolen (weird as it was a crap, old phone), my credit card, ATM card and all my remaining Thai Baht AND the small denomination notes I'd been collecting (i.e. 1 Malaysian Ringgit, 2 Singapore Dollars, 1 Brunei Dollar etc). My passport he couldn't find. I woke up 5 hours after crashing out, rang the Tourist Police and they were very good and took my statement.

Question is: This was now 2 days ago and my co-ordination/basic motor skills aren't yet 100% again. I would say they are about 80-90%, which is quite manageable, but I can definitely tell that they aren't what they were.

Should I let it go a few days and it will come back by itself? OR should I see a doctor urgently?

I am scheduled to travel to Cambodia tomorrow with a friend. I will travel alone if I don't go tomorrow. I also believe Thai hospitals & doctors are excellent (past experience from last week's "acute gastro-enteritis").

Has anyone had this happen to them? What would you recommend?

Thanks a lot for your help!

very sorry to hear that.

a bit of a nightmare scenario, ive heard many horror stories (including all of whats happened to you and at the added extra of anal rape) but in all my 5 times to south east asia ive been lucklily enough to escape being one of them (horror stories)....quite suprised really as i do a lot of things and drink a lot more alcohol on my travels than i ever would at home, and i always travel alone.

anyway by the sounds of things if you think you were drugged and not knocked unconcious it may have been by some kind of tranquilser,my guess would be a powerful long lasting benzodiazepine or maybe even a barbiturate, some have a very long half-life which would account for you still not feeling 100% a couple of days later, some of these drugs (benzodiazepines, and some barbiturates) stay in your blood for weeks.

anyway play it safe and go and see a doctor.

hope you feel well soon and enjoy the rest of your travels.

chohkdee

Cheers for the advice.

Ended up chancing it and catching the train to Siem Reap & am feeling quite good now. Seems to be out of my system. Haven't noticed any troubles in the anal rape department either fortunately :p Though was just propositioned by 3 separate ladyboys so who knows what lies ahead

If these propositions took place in pubs, you may wish to pick pubs more carefully. Ladyboys and drugs seem to hang out together.

I have been in/out of Pattaya since 1990 and drugs and ladyboys certainly do go together. Anyone who reads the Pattaya Mail or the Pattaya Daily News knows there have been many incidents involving ladyboys and drugged victims. Do Thai women also use drugs to knock out victims? Of course. But LBs seem to specialize in this crime. All TP members heading to Thailand should be aware of this problem.

he did'nt that he'd been to pattaya.

and my avice to anyone visting thailand is - AVOID PAATTAYA

I think there could be more to this story. Only sleeping for 5 hours after being drugged?
The tourist police came and took a statement, that's it? How about the 'woman' you were with, hadn't 'she dropped off her ID card at reception? Then reception and police will have a copy. Now catching a train to Siem Reap?
To tell you the truth, i suspect alcohol was the influential factor here, not an Oreo.
