Hey Mike,
When I was booking my round the world trip I popped into STA to talk to them and they were so useful. They gave me ideas of places I should not miss, a logical route to see all the bits I wanted to go to and gave me any advice I needed regarding visas and injections. Of course there are quite a few of these companies around now but I know that STA helped me out and meet all the need I had.
Something I was not aware of too was that you can fly into one airport and then have an open amount of time to reach another destination, i.e. Singapore to Bangkok and this way you do not back track on yourself and you have a set goal of where you need to get to. And the exciting bit is the journey!
